A collapsed lung and broken ribs won't stop the Riverboat Gamblers and singer Mike Wiebe.

Riverboat Gamblers will be releasing ther next single "Massive Fraud" (with a cover of The Dicks' "Hate The Police") on Friday, June 24, 2016 as part of their single series on End Sounds. The band, who appear in Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some, a "spiritual sequel" to Dazed and Confused, recorded "Massive Fraud" with Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Loretta Lynn, Modest Mouse, Cat Power, The Sword) before singer Mike Wiebe suffered a collapsed lung and broken ribs during a trust fall at the band's March, 18th SXSW 2016 show. Mr. Wiebe finished the band's set before heading to the hospital. In a week that had the band playing with a live orchestra, numerous SXSW shows, etc. the band's plans were cut short due to the injury and have subsequently cancelled all shows until their singer recovers, but to quote the Riverboat Gamblers "Don't Bury Me...I'm Still Not Dead."

SXSW is always a bit grueling.  This year was a little bit more so.  Things were going really great until the end of our set at the Jackalope when I made a crowd density mistake and fell to the ground. I fell hard.  I fell so hard that I managed to collapse my lung.  I ended up spending five days in the hospital with a tube inserted between my ribs.  It was tough and painful and I feel stupid and angry at myself for the shows we had to cancel the next day.  But for all the pain in my lung there is joy in my heart.  My buddy Damon set up a GoFund me and raised a lot of money very quickly by so many kind people who had kind things to say.  The whole experience really has touched my heart.  I can't thank you all enough.  I am very happy to be doing what I do and the fact that any of you enjoy it means the world to me.  Thank you all so much. - Mike Wiebe (Riverboat Gamblers)
